Menopause consultation: A structured approach to decision making

This lecture will focus on the practicalities of conducting the menopause consultation with a guide to important issues to cover and information to give to allow women to make informed decisions about lifestyle and treatment options for symptoms. We will look at relevant investigations that could be considered and important relative contra-indications in the personal and family history to take into account. Further resources and how to use these during a consult will also be covered.


Biography

Dr. Jane Elliott, General Practitioner, Clinical Senior Lecturer, Discipline of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, School of Medicine, The University of Adelaide

Dr Jane Elliott has been a general practitioner in Adelaide for many years, with a special career interest in women’s health, including menopause, premature menopause and osteoporosis. She consults at AWARE Women’s Health in Adelaide. She is a clinical senior lecturer in the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Adelaide and is involved in teaching medical students and GPs. She has been an investigator in clinical research trials in all areas of women’s health including menopause, contraception, osteoporosis and low libido. Jane is a Past President of the Australasian Menopause Society and is a member of the Medical and Scientific committee of Healthy Bones Australia (formally Osteoporosis Australia)
