Guidelines for prescribing MHT advise that “Duration of treatment should be consistent with the treatment goals of the individual, and the benefit/risk profile needs to be individually reassessed annually”, which is different to previous advice of “the shortest time/lowest dose”, so how do we advise patients around their 60th birthday, who have initiated their MHT in their 50s? This is a common clinical scenario . This presentation will focus on the practicalities of the joint decision making process, in our consulting rooms. Case studies will be discussed to inform how we can talk with women about what their options may be, given current research doesn’t always cover this age group.
