As women pass through menopause, a biological process of tissue transformation takes place. This is most prominent in the pelvic structures and can have profound implications for the holistic health and wellbeing of women. Two such manifestations of this are urinary incontinence and dyspareunia, both of which can stem from a myriad of causes but are exaggerated in the menopausal period. With an aging population we can only expect these issues to rise further to the forefront of gynaecological practice. We look to shed some light on the anatomy, causes, assessment and management of these pertinent issues.
