Abnormal vaginal bleeding has many potential causes, with the type and timing of bleeding helping to determine those most likely. This presentation will revise normal menstrual patterns and abnormal bleeding patterns, and will then focus on abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB). A classification system for causes of AUB will be reviewed, and we will discuss how to investigate the patient with AUB.
