Abstract:
This project aims to develop a disease specific quality of life assessment tool to assist healthcare providers identify specific areas of concern for individual women, assess effectiveness of intervention and improve patient care for women with premature ovarian insufficiency in five English speaking countries (Australia, The United States, The United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand). The study builds on previous research by Iranian researchers who developed a specific Premature Ovarian Insufficiency Quality of Life (POIQOL)Scale however, they acknowledged the possibility of cultural and linguistic limitations (Golezar et al., 2022).
A review of the literature and qualitative study involving responses from over 190 women informed development of scale items. To address gaps in previous POI research this study used recruitment and data collection methods designed to support the inclusion of a representative sample of women across age cohorts.
Following initial item generation proposed scale items will be reviewed by a panel of experts including health care providers and women with POI to assess face and content validity. The draft Scale will then be piloted and items further refined. Finally, the resulting tool will be analysed with a larger sample to determine factor structure, assess convergent and discriminant validity and test-retest reliability.
