Presentation Overview
Osteoporosis is a major contributor to morbidity in postmenopausal women, and treatment has historically been aimed at fracture risk reduction. Prevention of bone loss in the perimenopause or early postmenopause using menopause hormone therapy treatment should be a consideration for those women at risk of progressing to osteoporosis. MHT is as efficacious as many of the antiresorptive therapies. Lifestyle factors such as optimisation of calcium, vitamin D and strength and resistance exercise also need to be considered.
