Dr Rickard trained as a radiologist and worked in hospital and private radiology practice before establishing a Sydney-based pilot mammography screening project in 1987. This and other pilot projects led to the establishment of BreastScreen Australia in 1990.
She has taken a keen interest in breast imaging technique and interpretation, in new technologies and in professional training, and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney. She was State Radiologist for BreastScreen NSW from 2001 until 2006 when she joined Sydney Breast Clinic, a multidisciplinary screening and diagnostic service, where she is now Medical Director. In 2002 she received an Order of Australia award, and in 2015 she was elected a Life Member to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. |
