Menopause is a significant transition point that can be associated with troublesome symptoms that impact a person’s biopsychosocial health and risk of chronic disease. Lifestyle medicine interventions have been associated with reductions in menopausal symptoms and in chronic disease risk; these interventions also provide an opportunity to provide holistic patient-centred menopause care whilst empowering patients to manage their own health outcomes.

Aims:

To use existing evidence to develop a simple and practical framework that can be adapted for use by clinicians involved in management of menopause.

Methods:

A narrative synthesis of literature published between February 2016, and February 2026 was performed to map each lifestyle medicine pillar to menopause-specific symptoms, evidence-based management strategies and health outcomes. Framework design prioritised memorability, feasibility within time-limited consultations and applicability across settings including telehealth, general practice and gynaecology outpatient settings.

Results:

The framework – Sleep Deep, Move Often, Eat Well, Think Calm, Avoid Harm, Love More – provides clinicians with six actionable pillars, each with brief screening tools, brief advice, patient resources and referral pathways supported by evidence.

Conclusions:

This framework offers a practical, evidence-informed tool to assist clinicians to Integrate lifestyle medicine into menopause care.
