Aims:
Create a scalable, sustainable multidisciplinary model for menopause treatment within primary care to increase access.
Methods:
Evoca Women’s Health is an Australian national network of 45 GP led women’s health clinics, supporting over 150 women’s health GPs, alongside nurses and allied health partners.
Evoca is delivering five of 33 national Endometriosis, Pelvic Pain and Menopause Clinics with a model of care that leverages grant funding, existing MBS codes, Menopause Subject Matter Experts in GP Clinics, Nurse Supported Menopause Care and an emphasis on menopause as both a biological and psychosocial transition.
Results:
Menopause care sits within the remit of primary care; however, structural and workforce barriers limit holistic, guideline aligned delivery. Successful models require strong clinical governance, leadership and must translate national policy priorities into accessible, community-based services that are MBS-aligned to ensure ongoing sustainability.
Conclusions:
Menopause affects millions of Australian women and a critical window for improving both immediate quality of life and long-term disease prevention. Yet research has not translated into practice at scale.
The Evoca model demonstrates how intentional system design can bridge this gap, improving access, clinician confidence, consistency, and outcomes for women across Australia.
